Please introduce yourself.
I’m Neah McMeen, a small-town artist writing country/pop songs that are honest and unfiltered. I love taking real experiences and turning them into unique reflections where people can see themselves.
Tell us about your newest project.
My newest project really defines my sound, blending country and pop with a strong focus on real emotion and storytelling. It’s even more honest and bolder than anything I’ve released before, and I’m really excited for people to hear it.
What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out?
The project is inspired by real emotions and experiences I’ve gone through, so it’s very honest and personal to me. I wrote my newest single “Little Scrap of Love,” (out May 1) with Trey Bruce, who’s an amazing writer and producer, and we were able to be really creative and bring that emotion to life. The song will be available on all major streaming platforms, and I’ve been building it out visually on my social media.
How would you describe your music?
My music blends country and pop, but it always comes back to storytelling and real-life emotion. I’d describe it as country/pop with a lot of heart, relatable music inspired by artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves and Megan Moroney. My music is really driven by real life stories.
How did you get started?
I started out by getting the opportunity to choose songs from my producer’s catalog, which I’m really grateful for—it was a great starting point for me in Nashville. Before that, I had been singing with a small band in my hometown and also performing the national anthem at local games. From there, I started doing co-writes, which really sparked my creativity, and I also began learning guitar. Since then, I’ve been writing more consistently and solidifying who I am as an artist.
Who are your biggest musical influences? Do you have any other influences?
I’m really inspired by artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, and Megan Moroney because of how honest and story-driven their music is. Outside of that, my family and the people I grew up around have shaped me a lot—they’ve always been supportive and helped me stay grounded.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I’d love to see the industry put even more emphasis on authenticity over trends. The most powerful music comes from honesty, and I think there’s room to protect and uplift that more.
What sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
What sets me apart is that my music is really rooted in honesty and storytelling. I focus on real-life experiences and emotions, and I try to keep everything as authentic and personal as possible. I’d also say my energy, motivation, and clear vision as an artist are a big part of who I am.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
I’m passionate about music because it’s always been how I process and express what I’m going through. Being able to turn real-life experiences into songs that other people relate to is the most rewarding part for me.
What’s next for you?
I’m focused on releasing more music and continuing to develop my sound as an artist. There may or may not be an EP in the works, but I’m really excited about what’s coming next.
What are your career goals in the next five years?
My goal over the next five years is to grow my career as a recording artist, release more projects, and build a loyal fanbase through honest, story-driven music. I also want to keep performing and expanding my live shows.
