What was the inspiration behind “Pick My Own Flowers” and what message do you hope listeners take from the song?
The day Thomas, Phil, and I wrote “Pick My Own Flowers,” it came out of thin air. Phil started singing the chorus out of nowhere and I LOVED it! This being said I do believe the Lord sent us this idea to show that broken relationships do not determine our worth. He made us perfectly and wonderfully in His image and to those that do not know Him…this song is my way of telling them how beautiful they truly are!

How would you describe your music?
I would say my music is simple country with a hint of soul. I love big guitar parts and drums while bringing in a soulful tone through my vocal!
How did you get started?
I started my music journey within pageantry. I competed in the talent division of a local pageant at the age of eight, and as soon as I stepped on that stage I knew music was what I wanted to do forever. I immediately jumped into as many open mics or shows as I could after that!
Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest musical influences are Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and Jessie J. They are not afraid to use their voices and their songs are so dynamic.
Outside of music, who inspires you and why?
I’m most inspired by the people around me. I admire my parents for their hard work and compassion. My little brother is inspiring to me because he constantly keeps himself busy and is determined to succeed. Lastly, my friends inspire and motivate me to not be shy or overthink.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
This is always the most difficult question for me. On one end I would change nothing, because if it weren’t the way it is, then where would I be? Now, I do believe the answer to that question could be negative or positive! The other side of me wishes numbers did not matter as much. I wish songwriting and vocals were most important.
What would you say sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
I would say my background in R&B and old Motown music makes me different from other artists in my genre.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
I believe the Lord gave me the gift of music and I do not want to take that for granted! It is extremely important to me that I use my gift to spread His light and His word!
What’s next for you?
I’m constantly writing and playing shows around Nashville! You can keep up with me on socials and my website erinkirbymusic.com
What are your career goals in the next five years?
Within the next five years I would love to be on tour and I would love to have a few more duets/collaborations out there!
