Wounded Blue Benefit Review!

Wounded Blue Benefit

Nashville Palace was packed last night, as country music lovers turned up to raise money for the Wounded Blue Foundation. It was a wonderful evening, supporting our police officers. The night featured performances from 90s country superstars, Opry members, and special guests.

When I arrived John Conlee was onstage singing “Common Man” in his famous rose colored glasses, which he later auctioned off. There was also an auction for a guitar and a raffle, which raised over $6,300 total.

Maggie Baugh, fresh off playing guitar for Keith Urban, said she was honored to be asked to play for such a great cause. She performed a new song she wrote about mental health and gave a speech thanking police officers for all they do.

Nashville Star’s first ever winner Buddy Jewell took to the stage to play a few songs. Chad Brock performed his hit “Yes!” Ronnie McDowell took to the crowd to perform “Older Woman”, making jokes and hamming it up.  Special guest Heath Whitley from Ricochet broke out the fiddle for “Daddy’s Money”.

Darryl Worley treated the crowd to “I Miss My Friend” and “Have You Forgotten” about the 911 attacks, as a tribute. Both songs hit home with the audience tonight. A police officer was presented with an award and medal of Valor, the highest medal you can receive.

Mark Wills did his three biggest hits “Jacob’s Ladder”, “Don’t Laugh at Me”, and “19 Somethin”. Headliner Vince Gill came on and closed out the show with a few of his hits including “Go Rest High on that Mountain”.

It was a great evening listening to country hits from the past while supporting the men in blue!
