Tell us about your newest project. What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out?
Red Dirt, Green Grass, Blue Sky. It’s on all platforms. It really painted a picture from a small-town perspective. Things that are day-to-day to a lot of people in rural America put into a song that you want to turn up.
How would you describe your music?
Personally, I think I have a traditional sound and want to sing real country music. I grew up, listening to Loretta Lynn, Gretchen Wison, and Lee Ann Womack. I’d like to think I’m somewhere in between.
How did you get started?
I grew up watching my dad play in bands my whole life. In my early 20s I asked him if he wanted to be in a band with me and we’ve made a lifetime of memories ever since.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
To kind of grow on the last question my dad was a huge musical influence in my life growing up. He taught me how to play guitar and everything I know about music to get to travel the US with him and do what we love to do is a dream.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
This might sound kind of crazy but honestly, I’ll probably take away social media nowadays you have to be a social media influencer to get your music out there instead of just having a good voice, a song and a story to tell.
What sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
I would say I try to tell a story in my music. It’s not just something that you want to turn up on the radio because it sounds good, but it also is going to tell you about a time or a place.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
I think music is a healer. The good bad and the ugly can all be found in a song and it can pull you through some life hardships and milestones. Whether you’re the listener or the writer, I think it’s therapeutic.
What’s next for you?
I’ll be playing during CMA fest in Nashville and opening up for Mark Chestnut this summer and I could not be more excited.
What are your career goals in the next five years?
Hopefully make some new fans and connect to a lot of new people. Maybe stand in the circle at the Grand Ole Opry.
