Love Bites: Haunted House Review!

Love Bites

The Valentine’s edition of Nashville Nightmare was the only one I missed last year, so I was excited to be able to attend Love Bites this time around. I wasn’t sure what to expect, how they could put a twist on this holiday. But I was game to find out.

My boyfriend and I have become quite familiar with the haunted houses, so we were on the lookout for anything or anyone that stood out. First was Horror High: School for Ghouls. This time around it was turned into a camp (reminiscent of Crystal Lake on “Friday the 13th” movies). We were greeted by an actress who came across as enthusiastic and fun, giving us the whole camper spiel and getting us in the spirit. It was fun seeing Jason lurking around camp. You could almost hear the “ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma” in the air as you walked through the house, trying not to get caught. There were also appearances from Freddy Krueger ready to haunt your dreams and Michael Myers looking for revenge. The actress in a white lab coat, dressed like a gremlin was great as well.

The second house, Vector Research: Alien Autopsy hadn’t changed much. I think it was called Hawkin’s Lab. There was a cool new screen in the beginning, but not much else to note.

The final house, Midnight Mortuary: The Summoning was the best by far. We enjoyed it so much we had to go through a second time. This haunted house had so much to see. Elvira, Dolly Parton, and Stephen Tyler greeted you outside the entrance. Inside there were tons of new props. A bunch of new coffins and holographic mirrors, heads all over the wall, a walkway with hands, and a sewer complete with a toxic spill. A giant graveyard featured a haunted dog and the headless horseman plus the Graboid from the movie “Tremors”. But the coolest part was at the end. You had to walk through a room full of mist. You had no idea where the walls were, just had to feel your way through the pitch-black darkness. The actors in this house were particularly realistic and caused jump scares all around.

What we didn’t like was the bare bones decorations outside. Pulling up we were disappointed to see the gigantic, animated skeleton sign, usually the first thing you see was down. Also, the only Valentine’s Day decor we saw was in the gift shop. Just hearts thrown over two of the mannequins that are usually there. The one entrance to the haunted house outside the gift shop was closed as well. Not sure if they just extended the other house into that, as it felt bigger or if the normally fourth house was closed.

Those few minor things aside, we enjoyed our time at Love Bites. If you haven’t checked out Nashville Nightmare yet we highly recommend attending their next haunted house event! It’s sure to be a scream.
