Please introduce yourself.
My name is Halie, and i’m from a small town in Thayer, MO, right on the state line of Arkansas. I always grew up around music, as my older brothers had a band all throughout my childhood. At just 18 years old, I moved to Nashville. After 6 years of being in Nashville, i’ve had the opportunity to write with many talented writers, and even got to write a song for Martina Mcbride.
Tell us about your newest project. What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out?
My newest project, Runaway Cowboy, is really a true “gift from God” as I like to say. I wasn’t really trying to write the song, in fact, I was on my phone scrolling through it mindlessly when I heard this melody in my head. I ran to the back room and started playing it on piano. And crazy enough, I’m not exactly a piano player.. It all started coming to me, the lyrics, melody, and title of the song all in one. So I took it to my producer/co writer a couple of days later, and thus, Runaway Cowboy was born. It was just released to all streaming platforms March 22nd.
How would you describe your music?
It’s been extremely hard for me to describe who I sound like, but with this new song, some people say I sound like Kacey Musgraves.
How did you get started?
How my music journey really began doesn’t exactly have a start date, because i’ve been obsessed with music since I could even talk/sing. But i’d say 2018, as that was the year I moved to Nashville to pursue it.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
With my own music, I don’t really have any influences. I really love Lainey Wilson, but at the same time, when I write for myself I don’t try to be like anyone else or copy a certain artist. I just write what I like, and it doesn’t really sound much like a certain artist continuously.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I would change the radio, by adding more female artists to it.
What sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
I think I have a very useful talent into turning my raw, personal emotions into a universal feeling. I’ve told personal stories but people still are able to relate to them on a wide scale. I think thats a very hard thing to do, but a great thing to make others feel related to!
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
I love when a great song can tell a story with a good melody. I like when a song has depth, but sounds beautiful as well. Most of the time it’s either or.
What’s next for you?
I’m currently working on a duet with another artist in town, but for now I am keeping it a secret. I am extremely excited for this song to come out though, we have some big plans for the release.
What are your career goals in the next five years?
In my next five years, I’d like to have a publishing deal or a record deal, with a great manager who has my back and believes in me with their whole heart. I want a team that works hard with me, and also a team I know that I can trust.
