Please introduce yourself.

Hi there! My name is Savannah Rae and I’m a country rock singer from San Antonio, Texas.

Tell us about your newest project. What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out?

My newest song, Bad Decision, hits the airwaves on March 25th. I wrote this song with my buddy Rafe Carlson all about how pursuing music full time can be a big leap of faith. From people constantly saying we need a plan B or a “real job”, it can be easy to get discouraged in this industry. Bad Decisions is an ode to never giving up and to keep doing what you love.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my sound as a mix between an edgy Miranda Lambert, a female Hardy, and female Koe Wetzel.

How did you get started?

I would have to give all the credit to my parents who introduced me to all different kinds of genres when I was younger. They started taking me to concerts when I was around 10 years old and I fell in love with music. I specifically remember going to an Evanescence concert and watching Amy Lee (the lead singer) perform and being completely enamored with her. I told my parents that I wanted to do what she was doing and thankfully, they took me very seriously when I said that. They enrolled me into vocal and guitar lessons and I had my first on stage performance with a band when I was 12. I caught the performing bug and the rest is history!

Who are your biggest musical influences?

My favorite artist of all time is George Strait, and I love Miranda Lambert, Hardy, and Koe Wetzel.

Do you have any other influences?

My mom is one of my biggest musical influences. Ever since I can remember, she’s been showing me new music. From country to rock, to pop to alternative, she introduced me to all the music I know and love today!

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would change how reliant the industry is on social media numbers. It almost seems like a make or break deal sometimes. I’ve been denied from working with people because I “didn’t have enough followers on Instagram or TikTok.” Some of the most talented people I know have only a few thousand followers and often get passed/looked over due to it. It’s unfortunate and I while I am thankful for social media, I sometimes wish we could go back to the old days when it was more about talent instead of just trying to be an online personality.

What sets you apart from other artists in your genre?

I think I have a very unique style of music. There aren’t too many female artists in the country rock lane. It’s often times hard to say who I sound like because there’s so few ladies in that sphere. I think I bring a new and exciting sound to the industry and I’m looking forward to sharing all my new music with listeners.

What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

I love being able to express myself in pretty much the only way I know best. Ever since I can remember I’ve always been drawn to music. I also love connecting with people through song. While there are a multitude of languages in the world, music is a universal one.

What’s next for you?

I’m going to continue releasing new music as much as I possibly can this year. Very excited to show everybody what I have been working on! I’m also looking forward to continuing touring and all the upcoming shows we have on the horizon. From the Austin Rodeo, Key West Songwriter’s Festival, Patriotic Fest, Spooner Rodeo, etc. It’s going to be an awesome year!

What are your career goals in the next five years?

I have many goals that I would love to accomplish here in the next few years. From playing the Opry, Red Rocks, and The Ryman, to playing all the Texas venues and festivals I used to go to as a little kid. I would love to have a #1 song, plus have a #1 song as a songwriter, of course. No dream or goal is too big and I am constantly adding boxes to check! But overall, I just hope I have a good time achieving it all.
