Please introduce yourself.
Hi, I’m Noelle Toland and I am a country music singer-songwriter based in Nashville. I love storytelling, baking cookies and hanging out with my rescue dog, Velvet.
Tell us about your newest project. What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out?
I recently released a cover of one of my favorite songs, “Walkaway Joe,” which was originally released by the unparalleled Trisha Yearwood. I’m a huge fan of hers. I’ve always loved this song and it’s one that my mom and I bonded together over listening to. It’s streaming everywhere you stream music.
How would you describe your music?
Modern country with a little soul.
How did you get started?
I got on stage for the first time in kindergarten and was hooked. I fell in love with country music listening to the radio while riding in the car with my mom, singing along to the likes of Trisha Yearwood, Reba and Faith Hill. I got my start doing musical theater and when I made the move to Nashville, I became obsessed with learning how to write songs.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
I love strong female voices like Trisha, Reba and Faith. In addition to country, I have an affinity for singer-songwriters like Carly Simon and James Taylor. I also love soul music, particularly Al Green, Aretha, Marvin Gaye and Carl Carlton.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I would love for women’s voices to be uplifted and celebrated.
What sets you apart from other artists in your genre?
There are so many talented, unique and hardworking female artists in my genre of country music. As an artist it’s always been my goal to make listeners feel less alone, however that may be. I also make really good cookies, so maybe that sets me apart. 😉
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
The stories!
What’s next for you?
I’m releasing several singles this year in addition to official music videos. It’s a busy year and I can’t wait to share all the new music! I’m also excited to announce that I’ll be a part of CMA Music Festival, so keep an eye out for all the details.
What are your career goals in the next five years?
I definitely want to release a full-length album. However that comes to fruition, I’m not sure, but it’s my deepest desire to continue to be able to share my art with people for years to come.
