Birthplace: Nobody knows this, but I was really born on the Columbia River Gorge, in Hood River Oregon while my dad was traveling for work. My home base was a quaint little country town in Silicon Valley, California called Morgan Hill.
Current Residence: Nashville, Tennessee
Music Style: I love country rock, classic country, and dabbling in country pop – my music blends all of these genres to create what I feel is a unique sound of my own.

Please introduce yourself: My name is Brooklyn Summer. I am excited to say I’m now a Nashville local and I am 13 years old.
Tell us about your newest project: I just released my latest single “Kickin it Country!” (Press release: https://t.e2ma.net/message/z8mt30/v905xmb with more details, background info and downloadable cover art and press shot)
What was the inspiration behind it and where can we check it out? Every week I look forward to my Friday nights – to unwind from school and the grind. I feel everyone can relate to that! On weekends, I like to hang out with my friends and crank up the music!
How would you describe your music? (artists with similar sound): I am in a really interesting place right now trying to hone in on my sound. My voice is constantly changing and getting stronger each and every day. I love country rock with soulfulness and am also feeling a great strength lately with big power ballads similar to Martina and Adele but love the sassiness and style of Miranda. I’m pretty sure I will end up with more of a soulful country rock vibe. That’s really who I am…with an occasional power ballad.
How did you get started? I started singing at five years old in kindergarten at the school talent show. My mom put me in touch with a master vocal coach from Nashville and I’ve worked with her ever since.
Who are your biggest musical influences? Do you have any other influences (teacher/family/etc.)? My biggest musical influences from the country side of things are Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Gretchen Wilson, and from the pop world are Adele and Christina Aguilera.
My vocal coach put me in a talent competition in kindergarten and I really enjoyed singing in front of a crowd on a big stage. So from there, we sang at a hospice center in my hometown of Morgan Hill, and then went on to arts and wine festivals. I sang at the Santa Clara County Fairs and the Pleasanton County Fairs. I would sing a lot on Santana Row in Santa Clara, California. Also, at an early age, I began singing for a nonprofit called Youth Focus and they put me in lots of competitions. I grew up on the stage with high school kids from a very young age. I was the little kid that would open the shows. By summertime after kindergarten, I was already singing four shows a day at the county fairs! Because of all of this, I would have to cite my vocal coach as another major musical influence as well as my parents and little brother who of course support me and my music each and every day.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? I grew up acting in Los Angeles because in third grade there was nowhere for young kids to sing, especially live music. I remember going to a huge show in LA and when the music turned off, I was so surprised – I didn’t know everybody was lip-syncing. Everybody was overly produced to sound five years older than they were. I love Nashville because everywhere I sing it’s live and not pre-recorded. I think it’s so important for kids to grow up with their own sound, and not be pressured or produced to sound better than you really are.
What sets you apart from other artists in your genre? First of all, I am very determined, driven, and goal-oriented. I am also a perfectionist. I think a lot of people simply get up in front of a microphone and sing. I enjoy being an entertainer! I’d also like to think that my diverse musical influences have helped mold me and create a unique sound of my very own.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate? Music is in my blood. When I hear music, the rest of the world just drifts away. Music is so powerful and healing. I think about music 24/7 and can’t practice enough (the perfectionist in me)! A live performance and being “real” is more important to me than being choreographed. Just being present in the moment and conveying the stories through my songs that others can relate to and hopefully be moved by them is what makes me feel most passionate.
What’s next for you? I, of course, just released my new single so I am super-excited about that and to see what all transpired from it. I am also working on new music to be released during the year. Also, this is the first year that I have so many paid gigs so that feels great! I will be singing for the first time with my own band that we are currently assembling. I am now booking gigs out of state as well so I am excited to meet country fans in different towns, explore life on the road, and grow my fan base!
What are your career goals in the next five years?
It would be an absolute dream to find a great record label that believes in me and how as a team, we can work together to make more musical history! I would also love to have the opportunity to become an opening act where I can hit the road with an artist who would be a good fit and better enable me to expose my music to the world!
