The Texas Troubador was packed full of boxing fans for the February 6th edition of Country Box, where “Music Meets Boxing”. There were 6 professional bouts and 3 other bouts of fighting, much to the crowd’s enjoyment. Two of the fights ended in knockouts, the one only lasting two rounds. Boxers included Luis Rodrigo, Ryan Shaw, Iman Lee, Erick Arellano, Kahlil Shoot, Dionardo Minor, and Vit Y.

From where I was sitting, I was able to watch as the boxers came out from the dressing room, flanked by their team. I was surrounded by various people working at the event, so I got an inside peek into what was happening. It was interesting, watching as everything came together for the in-person audience and the on-air audience at home. People were running around making sure everyone and everything was ready. In between filming we saw boxers being taken care of, injuries assessed, water replenished. There were girls holding up signs for rounds, a referee making sure no rules were broken, an emcee hyping up the crowd. The number of people it took to put together the event was more than you’d think. The cool thing was it seemed to be a family affair.

The night featured performances by country music artist Landon Wall, who played 6-7 songs throughout the night. The transition between rounds and music was nicely done, giving the boxers and fans a little break. Most notable performance was Landon’s cover of Toby Keith “Red, White, and Blue”, played in tribute. They also had a boxing 10 count of silence in Toby’s honor and the National Anthem.

The whole event was put together by Jimmy Adams Promotions and streamed live on a few different channels (radio and tv). It was also filmed for later viewing on countrybox247.com if you want to watch. Thanks to Jimmy for the invite! Had a great time.
