Hunter Hayes Red Sky Continued Tour

I’ve always enjoyed watching Hunter Hayes perform, and tonights show was no exception. This my second show of the Red Sky Tour (well Red Sky Contiued this round). He played a two hour set to a packed crowd at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, including all all twenty songs off of the Red Sky Continued album, plus a ton of old songs. Many were mashup’s.

We were lucky enough to be invited to the VIP Soundcheck Experience, where we got to watch him rehearse and do a Q&A with fans. That was cool and something unique. He held a contest on social media to record yourself playing along to one of his songs. The winner got to perform a duet with him during soundcheck.

“Playing a show in Nashville is a lot more pressure. It feels like an audition normally. Tonight I’m lucky because it feels more like friends” Hunter said at one point. His parents could be seen on second level cheering him on. There were speeches from Hayes that sounded almost like therapy pep talks as he seemed to be needing validation for his music. Why, I don’t understand. He’s crazy talented. Always has been.

The show was set up into 3 parts, acoustic, new, and old songs. Highlights included a mashup of “Rescue” and “Amen”, “I Want Crazy”, and “Wanted” complete with audience sing-along. There was no intermission, little pause in the show the whole two hours, which was impressive.
Closing the set with the ever popular hit “Wanted”, had the crowd singing word for word. Until next time…
